For Catchlight Film & Photo Co., it’s how each and every one of us is a reflection of our life experiences, our upbringings, our hopes and dreams, our tragedies and triumphs, our loves and losses. Those reflections influence the people we’re drawn to, the people we choose to spend our time with, and ultimately, the people we choose forever with.

I grew up in a family where photography wasn’t just a job or hobby
PASSED FROM MY GRANDAD,
TO ME.
TO MY DAD,
IT WAS A LEGACY
While my grandfather and father passed on their love of photography, my mother passed on a love for service over self. For three decades, she taught first graders. Looking back, I know she’s the reason I care so much about being a light to others. She certainly was — and is — to me.
I naturally developed an innate love for capturing and preserving moments in time.
My grandfather was meticulous about his camera gear, and when he died, he passed a few of his old film cameras to me. They’re in amazing condition, and it’s been a beautiful full circle moment that I get to use them in my own photography business.
My father was a freelance photographer, and I distinctly remember him choosing a telephoto lens over a sizable bonus after finishing up a project. For my dad, photography was never about making money. It was about capturing moments.
That left an indelible mark on me.
So when the journalism bug bit in high school
IT BIT ME REALLY, REALLY HARD.
I was the program director and news anchor for our student-produced and driven newscast. I knew I wanted to be a journalist — to have the honor of telling people's stories. My thought process was, if I’m going to pursue this career, I’m going to get a degree from the best — and that was the University of Missouri.
FOR 13 YEARS, I WAS A TELEVISION REPORTER. I HUSTLED AND COVERED EVERYTHING FROM FIRES TO SEVERE WEATHER TO CIVIL UNREST TO WAVES OF CRIME.
The things I’ve seen – the things I’ve had to cover – will never escape me. But the parts of my career that I continue to recall fondly are those that allowed me to serve others, to help them, to champion them, to tell their story.
I love my couples’ love stories much more deeply because of it.
This would be the year my marriage ended. The new shadow I would have to learn to live with. But ever the optimist saying it’s all good (even when it really isn’t), I haven’t stopped looking for the silver lining — even in the darkest shade of black.
Love never fails.
Becoming a wedding filmmaker and photographer in Cleveland was
ONE PART HAPPENSTANCE AND ONE PART DIVINE INTERVENTION.
The world ushered in 2024, and I was happy. I was secure. I was complete.
I started second shooting for a couple of Cleveland photographers and immediately knew this is how I could still tell stories — just in an entirely new way.
As a news reporter, if I was talking to you, it was most likely because you had a really, really bad day. But as a wedding videographer and photographer, if I’m talking to you, it’s because you have a really, really good day. Maybe even the best, ever.
In June 2023, after nearly three years of balancing two full-time jobs — being a news reporter by day and wedding photographer and videographer by night — I decided to go all in with my wedding business. A risk, sure, but I was undaunted.

BUT LIFE HAD OTHER PLANS.
I still adamantly believe in the message of 1 Corinthians 13:8. Love never fails. But inevitably, sometimes people do.
The upside of being an optimist is the innate ability to find the light in the dark —
THE CATCHLIGHT REFLECTING BACK AT YOU.
My clients and their stories have been and will be the inspiration, the guiding light behind my work. In a sense, my own story has, I believe, caused me to become more invested in my couples. More intentional, too.
Now that you’ve seen into my soul – I want to get to know you!
(And I’m hopeful that mine can be re-written, too.)
It’s a toss up between my garden plot at the Ben Franklin Community Garden (still trying to beat my record tomato harvest in 2020 of 227 lbs of tomatoes!) and the Fountain of Eternal Life near Key Tower downtown (one of my favorite portrait locations).
FAVORITE SPOT IN CLEVELAND:
As far as food is concerned, I’ve never missed a meal in my life. My one hot-take is ranch>blue cheese. Blue cheese is just mold masquerading as a condiment.
FAVORITE FOOD:
I love the energy of a city as much as I love the serenity of a national park.
But really, anywhere with the people I love, including my best friends, family and my two dogs (yes, I treat them like people).
FAVORITE HANGOUT:

FAVORITE MUSIC ARTISTS:
I love the energy of a wedding day, but my favorite parts would unequivocally be the letter and/or vow readings that typically follow a first look. I love how they can see the reaction on their partner’s face. Those reactions and emotions are so raw and pure and genuine.
FAVORITE PARTS OF A WEDDING:
In my downtime, if the weather’s nice, there’s a 97.6% chance you will find me on the golf course somewhere. What also helps me fill my cup is simply walking. Airpods in ears, just walking forward. I’m also a world-class karaoke singer.
FAVORITE PASTIMES:
My friends and family would say I’m someone who:
– loves hard and knows only one level of effort – I’m all-in on the things I love and care about.
– Am most adept at parallel parking in a tight space.
– Speak in my TV Voice a lot. (This criticism is accurate).
– I love semicolons; I just wish I knew how to use them.
– I love the rule of threes.
