A Romantic Tudor House Wedding on Portage Lakes | Janette & Garrett

Some wedding days linger with you long after the final frame is captured. Janette and Garrett’s Tudor House Wedding was one of those days.

Set along the quiet shoreline of Portage Lakes, their celebration felt timeless, intimate, and deeply personal. From the soft morning light filtering through the trees to golden hour portraits on the water, every part of the day unfolded with intention and heart.

As a wedding photographer and filmmaker in Northeast Ohio, I’ve had the privilege of working at The Tudor House on Portage Lakes multiple times. And each visit reminds me why it remains one of my favorite venues in the region.

Getting Ready at The Tudor House

The day began with quiet anticipation. Janette slipped into her lace gown as natural light filled the room, creating an atmosphere that felt calm and grounding. There was a softness to these moments—intentional, unhurried, and full of meaning.

Garrett, dressed in a classic navy suit with a crisp vest, carried an unmistakable sense of excitement. The energy between them felt steady and certain. These early moments set the tone for everything that followed.

An Outdoor Ceremony Surrounded by Nature

Janette and Garrett exchanged vows outdoors beneath towering trees, surrounded by family and friends. The ceremony space at The Tudor House feels effortlessly serene. Nature frames every moment without distraction.

As Janette walked down the aisle, emotion rippled through the crowd. The ceremony felt grounded in connection. No excess. No rush. Just presence, promise, and love.

This is what makes a Tudor House Wedding so special. The setting elevates the experience without overpowering it.

Portraits That Feel Like Them

After the ceremony, we moved into portraits across the property. The Tudor House offers a rare combination of textures and backdrops—lush greenery, water views, and elegant architecture—all within steps of each other.

Janette’s solo portraits captured confidence and quiet joy. Garrett’s presence was calm and supportive. Together, their portraits felt natural and deeply connected. Nothing forced. Nothing performative.

And then came the moment everyone looks forward to.

The Signature Boat Ride on Portage Lakes

One of the most unique features of a Tudor House Wedding is something very few venues can offer: a private boat ride on the lake.

This is where the magic happens.

Janette and Garrett slipped away together, gliding across the water as the afternoon light softened. These moments are unmatched. The stillness. The intimacy. The sense of escape. It creates space for couples to breathe and be fully present with one another.

From a storytelling perspective, these portraits are always some of the most meaningful of the day.

Golden Hour Romance by the Water

As the sun dipped lower, we returned to shore for golden hour portraits beneath the trees. Warm light wrapped around them, highlighting quiet laughter and soft touches.

These moments felt cinematic yet honest. Romantic without being staged. It’s exactly what I love about photographing weddings at The Tudor House. The environment invites authenticity.

Why I Love Photographing Tudor House Weddings

I’ve photographed many weddings across Northeast Ohio, but The Tudor House at Portage Lakes continues to stand out. It offers something rare: variety without chaos, elegance without stiffness, and moments of privacy within a shared celebration.

From lakeside ceremonies to private boat portraits, it allows couples to experience their wedding day in a way that feels both elevated and deeply personal.

Janette and Garrett leaned fully into that experience. Their Tudor House Wedding was a reflection of who they are—steady, joyful, and grounded in love.

If you’re planning a wedding at The Tudor House and want photography that feels immersive, emotional, and true to your story, I would love to connect.

Cleveland Wedding Videographer. Photographer. Eternal Optimist. Nostalgic Soul.

From Texas to Cleveland, I've always been a storyteller. I grew up taking photos of people and places on film. Yes, you read that right.

It was that long ago.

In 2023, I hung up my hat as a news reporter of 13 years and leaped into life as a Cleveland wedding videographer and photographer – the perfect fusion of two of my favorite things: telling stories and capturing moments.

I strive to infuse every frame with the warmth, joy and reverence your love deserves. Photography and filmmaking isn’t just a job to me. It's a privilege to capture the feelings and the beauty — the beacon your love radiates to everyone around you.
